LANDSCAPE: a work of art of the depiction of the natural scenery/nature
A new week, a NEW project! Students' portrait drawings look amazing, and it is time to switch gears as we explore another popular theme in artwork, LAND-SCAPES. This fun project "Zentanscapes" combines doodles called Zentangles with landscape drawing techniques in order to create a really wacky, abstract work of art. If you were absent on Monday, Apr. 22 please watch the prezi and download the worksheet!
PORTRAIT: a work of art of a person, depicting the face or facial expression.
Students day in class began their first "large" project of Realistic Value Portraits. These LOOK complicated, but by breaking each image down into simple lines and values (the basics of graphite drawing) these are quite simple. If you were absent, or want to watch again, the prezi on artist Chuck Close is to the right. Looking forward to seeing everyone's new portraits take shape!
Drawing Task for Monday 3/18: Students will be completing Blind Contour Drawings. By not looking at their paper, and focusing on the object they are drawing instead of what their "brain is telling them", they will start to create more realistic drawings!
The beginning of every 6th grade drawing class, begins with, you read it, BOOT CAMP! This week is full of our "drills" and "conditioning" for students to begin building the skills they will need in order to complete their drawing projects. Located to the right are two prezi's we'll be watching in Fridays class to begin!
Love extra credit? Who doesn't? Each week I will post a question, video, image, etc. under each specific blog for your class (like this one for 6th Grade Drawing) By answering to the blog post with a comment before the end of the week I will add 2pts extra credit to your participation. Super easy right?Well it is, and fun too, happy commenting!
WK1: Comment Challenge
In your weekly comment, write ONE goal, worry, or feeling about being in drawing this quarter. What do you want to learn? What about art fascinates you? Are you nervous?
Remember, answer in complete sentences and post before Friday, March 15th.
6th grade students are completing a new project never done before at FMS this project. We spent all morning talking about the art movement, SURREALISM. These artworks of the imaginary, crazy, and dreamlike images are made to appear realistic through the artwork of famous artists like Salvador Dali and Max Ernst.
Students will be using COLLAGE + DRAWING as they take images found in magazines and create a new "creature" with their drawing!
If you missed class on Tuesday please watch this prezi,
