Some 6th grade drawing students showing off their finished work. Great Job to ALL of the 6th graders on creating these awesome artworks :)
Color Wheel Designs are DONE! I am very proud of the work and time students spent creating these really great design paintings about the color schemes found on the color wheel. The focus of this project was to continue practicing and understanding how to read the color wheel, as well as become more familiar with using paint as a medium to create artworks. Coming up this week 8/27-8/30 students will begin to tackle a more difficult self-portrait project using acrylic paints.
Bring it on week four of 6th grade drawing! For the first part of the quarter, students have been doing studies, practices, and short projects to get down the basics of drawing. I like to relate my teaching to sports often, and I ask students if they could play a basketball game without learning how to dribble first. Of course this answer is "No Miss Slu", and now students are finally ready to jump into their first basketball game! Students will be creating a Value Self Portrait by focusing on the values found in an image taken of their own portrait. This project is going to be a challenge, but they will look awesome once completed!
Can you believe that we are about to enter our third week of school? It seems like only yesterday I was getting to see all of the new 6th graders come into FMS for the first time.
For the week of August 19th-24th; students in 6th Drawing are going to continue improving their shading skills and seeing value. We will begin a short project "Wacky Value" which creates an optical illusion in our drawings through line and value. Toward the ending of the week, student's will begin to learn about drawing correct proportions of the human face and begin their first large project "Value Self-Portraits". This past week, each student went through my "Drawing Bootcamp". It was exactly like it sounds, however, each student was absolutely amazing and their drawing skills have improved so much. Students were faced with the very basics of drawing; contour drawing and value. By completing quick exercises and many timed drawings, skills in drawing have increased. Check out some examples of student's coming their line technique with their new shading skills! |
